Neil (I can't remember the context, but who needs it?): "It was an acceptable risk."
We were all set to leave the Plane of Water, when Meyv and Pip got embroiled in a terribly important theological discussion of some sort and went off to wrangle with a priest, leaving the rest of us with time to kill. Strolling through the City of Glass, we found our way to a museum. It held a range of exhibits; by far the most eyecatching was a REALLY BIG HAT in a display case. I cannot emphasise enough the splendour of this hat; even the House of Fine Hats, back in Delros, would have been hard-pressed to manufacture its evil.
This naturally set me thinking: what size is that hat, anyway? Can anybody really be said to own a hat, and how well-guarded is this museum? And could Neil find an interpretation of Heironeous' code that allowed him to assist in a hat-extraction venture?
CHELETH: "Can anyone prove it's *not* an evil museum?"
However, I reluctantly abandoned this train of thought when we found locals willing to tell us more about the hat. It seems it was the former property of a pirate captain who had rather inadvertently sailed his ship through a portal and into the Plane of Water, where he ended up on the inside of a giant air bubble. The hat had eventually found its way to the City of Glass; the ship had never been recovered. Although the pirates had been understandably coy about its location, rumour had it that it might be one of two large bubbles currently (ha!) near the City of Glass. Pirates being associated first and foremost with treasure, and treasure being the primary means of obtaining hats, we left the museum and set about borrowing several of the city's riding turtles.
( A fearsome foe. )
